SOLV Citizenship Awards Nomination Criteria

SOLV gratefully acknowledges Bank of America for its significant partnership with SOLV by presenting the event since its beginning in 1994.

2010 SOLV Citizenship Awards

The SOLV Citizenship Awards recognize outstanding businesses, community groups, educators and individuals, including youth, whose volunteer and community work reflects SOLV’s mission of bringing Oregonians together to improve the environment and build a legacy of stewardship. Award winners will be honored at the Annual SOLV Citizenship Awards Banquet in the fall.

Criteria for Business Citizenship Awards

• Actively encourages and engages their employees in volunteer activities in their community.
• Commitment to sustainability, green practices and environmental stewardship. Publicly share their sustainability policy.
• Encourages other business in their industry to partner with them in volunteerism and sustainability.

Criteria for Individual, Community Group and Educator Awards

• Be a positive force/leader for volunteer and community efforts in their community and/or school.
• Emphasis is on environmental stewardship.

       *We encourage youth nominations for all of these categories

SOLV’s Organization and Mission
Founded in 1969 by Governor Tom McCall and other community leaders, SOLV's mission is to bring Oregonians together to improve the environment and build a legacy of stewardship. To accomplish its mission, SOLV has implemented a variety of volunteer programs, including the annual beach & river cleanups, tree plantings, and neighborhood restoration events. SOLV annually provides over 500,000 hours of volunteer service throughout the state.
